Baseball/softball season is going full force right now, and that keeps us sooooo busy in the evenings. My kids love playing sports so I'm all for taking them to their games and practices; I'm just ready for some quiet evenings at home enjoying a quality home-cooked meal. There are only so many concession stand hot dogs and nachos that I can handle.
Things in my hectic schedule are slowly coming to an end. Wednesday evening church activities are winding down, only 2 more sessions, and I completed my 10 week bible study called "Jesus, the One and Only" by Beth Moore. (If you have a chance to participate in this study, go for it!! It is awesome. I think it is one of the best studies I've done.) Also, the two civic groups that I belong to are finishing up their activities so that everyone can have off for the summer. The 2 church comittees that I am on will have very few meetings over the summer so that will ease my work load. I can see the light at the end of my fast-paced tunnel. : )
Now for my Red Neck Digi Pages.
Here are two recent digi pages that showcase my son and nephew's GREAT DISCOVERY--a water mocassin. They were at the creek at their grandparent's house shooting BB guns, and they were so thrilled to find the LIVE snake. They chopped off its head with a machete and brought it home for us all to admire. Yes, when I say brought it home for us to admire, I'm shaking my head in disbelief. The mom part of me was like "WHAT???!!! You found WHAT?? A LIVE snake? Did you touch it?? Did you wash your hands??? Are you NUTS?" Then after a moment's shocked silence, "Did it bite you??" There is no part of me that thinks that the snake is as cool as they did.
They say that they shot it with their BB guns first and then chopped off its head.... I dunno. They were explicitly told to NOT do that again.

The girls were not sure what to think about the snake. I love the puzzled look on my niece's face in the middle photo in the second page. Cupcake wouldn't hold it by herself because it was too heavy. She says that it felt like 20 pounds... My two older nieces took copies of their photos to school for extra credit from their science teacher. Trav downloaded his pics to his iPod so he could show them off at school. I'm sure that he and Trent both told some tall tales at school the next day. : )
My favorite photo is on the first page in the lower left hand corner. It shows the boys walking down the gravel road to dispose of the snake. I shot the photo directly in the ULTRA INTENSE TEXAS SUN so the photo is really dark and it's difficult to make out the subjects. What I *love* about the photo is the shadows--you can see the machete in Trent's hand and the snake in Travis' hands. I wish I had caught all of Trav's shadow, but I still like the effect.
Credits: Templates (edited): Jill Jack Template #46 (duplicated a photo spot and moved the upper left photos towards the middle) on the top and Jill Jack Template #45 (flipped the photo spots and added 2 more photo spots) on the bottom; Papers: Hullabaloo by Little Dreamer Designs (I used two sheets from the kit, TNT_Hullabaloo_celebrate and JHE_Hullabaloo_PP3; I put the Celebrate paper on the bottom layer and placed the darker "grungier" PP3 paper on top. I changed the opacity of the PP3 and it sorta "blended" the two papers together; Fonts: title--Engravers MT, text--SP Toby Unleashed; Photos: my kids, nephew and nieces
