Travis' 1st 2007 Season Football Game

Top Photo: Travis is at the bottom of the pile, dragging down one of the Wildcats. If you look closely, you will see Trav's arm pulling on the Wildcat. Travis is right above the Apache that is in the foreground.
Right Photo: Travis and the guy that he was constantly facing on the line. Notice the size difference!! I'm so glad that my son is tough and not afraid to go up against large boys.
On Saturday, we traveled to Yorktown to play the Wildcats for the opening game of the 2007 CYFL football season. We left home at 9:20 and arrived in Yorktown at 10:00 for our 11:15 game. Unfortunately, we were the third game scheduled and the first game was WAY behind. We finally started playing at 12:30 and the game ended by 2:00. Brant and Darrence both made one touchdown each and Dalton made 1 extra point. Despite the effort of our team, we lost by 4 touchdowns. Our boys were understandably upset, but they will learn to work as a team and not give up. This is the first year for several of the boys to play, and it just takes time to get over the fear of getting hit.

The new jerseys hadn't arrived yet but fortunately enough of the boys had played in previous years that there were plenty of jerseys for the boys to share. On the field at any given time there would be THREE #44 Philippus' amd TWO #22 Schauer's. Talk about confusing!! I could tell who Travis was because the guy wearing his extra jersey played offense and Trav mainly played defense.

Travis plays defensive end and linebacker depending on what plays the coaches calls. He also plays tight end or tackle on the offensive line if the coaches need him to. In Saturday's game, Travis had 5 individual tackles and assisted in a few others. He also managed to sack the quarter back on one play!!! I was so proud of him, and enjoyed hearing his name being called over the loudspeaker.

According to Travis, the best part of the game was being out on the field with his friends. The worst part of the game was being held, with NO penalties being called, by one of the other team's players.
